Kolfok "Neckenmarkter" Blaufrankisch 2021

The Neckenmarkt bottling comes from 3 vineyard sites with vines grown in limestone, slate and granite on the steep, southeast-facing slopes of Neckenmarkt. This mix of soils imparts a striking mineral backbone. Deep ruby in the glass, it opens with aromas of red forest berries, currant, and wild herbs, accented by hints of nougat and licorice. The palate is vibrant and precise, with juicy red cherry, fine-grained tannins, and brisk acidity carrying through to a long, elegant finish. Farmed organically. It undergoes partial whole cluster fermentation (15%).  It is traditionally aged for 18 months in large 1200L Austrian oak cask creating a pure, site-driven wine that captures both the rugged beauty and refined character of Neckenmarkt's historic vineyards.
