
Esencia Rural "De Sol a Sol" Tempranillo 2018
After leaving the rural life to study in Madrid, Julián returned to farming, focusing on organic practices. In 1998, he ventured into organic winemaking, tending 50 hectares of mostly old, pre-phylloxera vines, with minimal intervention in the cellar to let the terroir and grape character shine. "De Sol a Sol" is made from Tempranillo grown on the “La Solana” vineyard, planted in 1992 on sandy-limestone soils. The grapes are hand-harvested, fully de-stemmed and fermented in concrete tanks, with the wine resting in tank for 12 months before bottling without any sulfur additions.
An expressive Tempranillo. On the nose, it offers a balsamic bouquet of red fruit, sage and mushroom like earthyness. The palate is medium bodied, with a charming rustic edge indicative of these old vines.
