Coujan "La Pinot Noir" 2023
The Guy family has owned this vineyard since 1868, and Florence, the current owner, is the fifth generation a the helm. She converted the winery to organics in 2008, and along with her daughter and small team, work very intentionally to tend and encourage biodiversity in the 140 hectare property (50 devoted to vineyards), with plenty of wildlife intermingling with vine plants, including the remarkable muster of peacocks who roam freely through the vineyards and winery.
Grapes are destemmed and fermented spontaneously in concrete tanks, and bottled the following spring after a very light filtration. This cuvée's name is a play on words: "lapinot" means young rabbit in French, a fitting name for this agile, vibrant and juicy Pinot Noir.
