Ciro Picariello Brut Contadino 2022

Ciro Picariello has quickly become one of the star producers of Fiano di Avellino. He and his wife started their winery back in 1997, but their first vintage under their label was not until 2004. Their 12 hectares of vineyards are located at a relatively high elevation in the province of Campania, divided between the villages of Montefredane (1,600 feet above sea level) and Summonte (2,100 feet). At these elevations, they're able to harvest Fiano with incredible phenolic presence, without compromising tension and nuance.  

Brut Contadino will give any grower champagne a run for the money.  It's Fiano fermented in the "Methode Champenoise", disgorged after 24 months in the lees without any dosage.  It's elegant, chiseled and with a boundless energy.  This wine was one of the major surprises in the last year for us.  Don't sleep on this one.
