About the wine:

90% Semillon, 10% Sauvignon Blanc; This Semillon dominant blend is an excellent value in white Bordeaux, brimming with citrus and floral notes and a lovely roundness on the palate.

About the producer:

Made in a bistro style by fourth generation vigneron Jean-Michel Chatelier, this blanc and rouge duo is sourced from younger estate vines within the appellation and is perfect for everyday drinking.

Jean-Michel’s vineyards are located between the cities of Bordeaux and Libourne in the northern part of the Entre-Deux-Mers region on a plateau overlooking the Dordogne River. A sunny exposure, meticulous canopy maintenance, and the beneficial influence of the river ensure that the grapes ripen evenly and maintain acidity and freshness.  The microclimate of the region and its soils, which depending on the altitude are composed of clay-gravel, silt-gravel, or sand-clay, are particularly suited to Merlot which comprises most of Jean-Michel’s 60 hectares, along with some Cabernet Franc and Malbec.  For the white, he uses predominantly Sémillon (90%) blended with Sauvignon.

Jean-Michel is committed to improving the impact of farming on the environment and has obtained the demanding Haute Valeur Environnementale certification, which reflects excellence in the areas of biodiversity, plant protection, management of fertilizer use and management of water.
