Barranco Oscuro "El Canto del Mirlo" Tinto 2020

100% Merlot grown organically on vineyards at 1,300 m altitude over slate and stony soils in Granada. Grapes are hand-harvested, destemmed, short partial maceration of 4-5 days and aging in barrels for about 1 year. Bottled in August 2021 unfined, unfiltered, and zero SO2 always. Annual production is 1,400 bottles. Merlot, in French, is the diminutive of "merle" (blackbird, from Latin merulus), probably arose by comparing the grape with the color of this black bird, hence the name of the wine.
