The soils here were formed in the last ice age, when the slate \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003emassif\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e of the Pyrenees collided violently with the limestone \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cem\u003emassif\u003c\/em\u003e\u003cspan\u003e of Corbieres—and Calce encompasses the folds, faults, and striations of that geological episode. Consequently, wines from Calce offer some of the most profound, most spine-tingling, most physically palpable minerality of any wines on the planet.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp\u003eThis wine is a blend of 50% Grenache Blanc and 50% Macabeu from the youngest vines of the domaine. The soil is predominantly sandy with limestone deposits. Fermentation is straight forward, with indigenous yeasts, followed by a maturation for 8 months in steel tanks.
